Mezzanines and work platforms are an affordable way to increase floor space when building an addition or relocating to a larger facility is not an option. Mezzanines can vastly increase warehouse efficiency by allowing for utilization of over head space, while maintaining the floor level space. Offices, storage, work space, catwalks, tool cribs and dust covers are just a few applications suitable for mezzanines.

Following is the standard information we ask our customers when quoting a Mezzanine or Work Platform:

•What size mezzanine is being requested? W x L x H as well as either the clear height requirement below the mezzanine or the deck height requirement.

•If a specific column spacing is required, we will need to know this.  Otherwise, the most economical will be used.

•How will the mezzanine be used? For example – storage, equipment, personnel or something else?

•What is the capacity requirement per square foot – PSF (pounds per square foot)?

•Does the mezzanine need to meet a specific building code or be ADA compliant? Although the International Building Code (IBC) governs most of the US, it is important to double check requirements.  This is especially true for Western States that have high Seismic requirements.

•What type of deck is required?  Wildeck provides a good summary of
decks available.

•How many internal and / or external stairs will be required and will they need to open or closed risers?  Standard width is 36”.  We will need to know if a custom width is needed.  Will any landings be required?

Please Note: When quoting a Mezzanine or Work Platform, it is important to specify if the application is for a freestanding mezzanine (allowing maximum use of the floor level space and full utilization of the mezzanine) or a mezzanine located against a wall or walls. A two-sided mezzanine would attach to two existing walls, and a three-sided mezzanine would attach to three existing walls.
