Looking for a pallet rack coating that will resist corrosion from harsh outdoor conditions or damp conditions such as a cooler? Galvanized pallet rack may be the right solution for you.  Galvanized pallet rack is meant to withstand rust which appears quickly in wet environments and can compromise the structural integrity of material over long periods of exposure.  Some of the most common uses for galvanized racking include:

  • Refrigerated / freezer applications
  • Retail operations for their outdoor garden centers
  • Outdoor storage with roof cover but no sides
Galvanized Pallet Rack

The most common form of galvanizing is a hot dip galvanization. The unpainted pallet rack is cleaned to remove all oils and dirt.  Then it is immersed in a bath of molten zinc at extremely high temperatures. When the pallet rack is taken out of the zinc, it reacts with the outside oxygen and carbon dioxide to create a corrosion-resistant surface. Most manufacturers offer galvanizing but usually send the pallet rack to an outside source to have it coated. This usually adds approximately 1 – 2 weeks to the standard production lead time. Galvanizing is also an extra cost, but well worth it in applications where corrosion may occur.
