Welcome back to our video series, Would You Like Fries With That? I’m Linda Smith with WPRP Wholesale Pallet Rack Products. In this episode, we’re taking a closer look at pallet stops—a small but important accessory that can help you create safer and more compliant pallet rack systems for your customers.
If you’re not already offering pallet stops as part of your accessory lineup, they’re a great add-on to consider, especially for systems that need to meet specific fire code requirements or reduce the chance of pallets being pushed too far into a rack. If you would like more information on adjustable racks or other storage solutions, be sure to contact us. Our goal is to help you!
What is a Pallet Stop?
A pallet stop is a simple device used to limit how far a pallet can be loaded into a racking system. It adds a layer of safety by helping make sure pallets are seated correctly and don’t push past the rear beam. In many cases, they’re also used to help maintain flu space for fire suppression systems, which is a key part of staying compliant with local fire codes.
Two Pallet Stop Options We Discuss in the Video
1. Offset Beam Pallet Stop
This is a beam tube with two flat connectors welded to it. It attaches to the side square holes of an upright frame and creates an offset behind the rear beam. At WPRP, we stock this in a 3-inch offset, though other sizes are available depending on the application. It’s an easy-to-install solution that gives a clean, solid stop for pallets.
2. Back-of-Beam Pallet Stop from Nashville Wire
This option sits directly on top of the beam and is screwed down into place. It also provides a 3-inch offset from the back of the beam and is 5.25 inches high, which works well with most standard pallets. It’s another in-stock solution and a great alternative if you need a top-mounted design.
Why Use Pallet Stops?
Here’s why we see dealers using pallet stops regularly:
- Helps protect rear beams from pallet impact
- Assists with flu space compliance for fire safety
- Creates consistent pallet placement
- Offers a quick, affordable way to improve system safety
