Pallet rack beams require a locking device that keeps them locked into frame columns while in use. Without a locking device, beams can be accidentally dislodged from frames, creating a potentially dangerous situation. While most beams are now manufactured with built-in locking devices, these are easily broken or sheared off. In this case, we recommend installing replacement safety clips, the most popular of which is the Universal Drop Pin.
The Universal Drop Pin fits any pallet rack with 3/8″ aligning holes in the frame-to-beam connection and is easy to install. Universal Drop Pins can be removed and reinstalled when re-slotting pallet rack beams and are coated with a durable zinc plating.
