Josh: Hi, I’m Josh Smith. Welcome to our video miniseries, “Would You Like Fries With That”. I’m here with Scott Dachel today from Wildeck, and we’re going to talk about two important things: UBC and IBC. When purchasing a used mezzanine, a new mezzanine, or moving, these are two things you should know. Scott-
Scott: Thanks Josh. The main difference between UBC and IBC (UBC was the old code, IBC is the new code in the past five years) is the stairs are different. The railings on the stairs with UBC were just a looped rail. Now with IBC, you have to have a handrail and a guardrail on those stairs. So, UBC stairs do not meet IBC code, so you have to replace that stair.
Josh: Thanks Scott! So remember, if you are moving an existing mezzanine or purchasing a used one, you’ve got to bring it up to IBC code. I’m Josh Smith and that’s your 60 seconds of “Would You Like Fries With That”. Make sure to follow us on     Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. Thanks Scott!
Scott: You’re welcome.
