When flooring is uneven, shims stabilize the connection between footplate and floor surface. Shims are manufacturer-specific and are designed to fit with a particular footplate. When using the correct shim for a given footplate, the holes of the shim will match up with the holes in the frame’s footplate. Per RMI/ANSI requirements, shims must be equal to or greater than footplates in size.
