When quoting Tennsco Z-Line shelving, it’s important to know whether side supports are needed on each shelf level. Tennsco offers two types of Z-Line Shelving Systems – Low Profile and Medium / Heavy Duty. Below are Tennsco’s recommendations regarding side supports for each type of Z-Line Shelving.
Low Profile:
On a shelving system using low profile shelf supports, side supports do not need to be used on every level. For example:
A bay of shelving with 5 shelf levels only needs side shelf supports on the top, middle and bottom levels. The capacity per shelf is based on the front and back supports, so the capacity will not change if the side supports are not used on the 2nd and 4th levels.
Heavy Duty:
On a medium / heavy duty shelving system, the manufacturer recommends side supports be used on every level. The capacity per shelf level is based on using the front, back and side supports.
Please note – if the side supports are removed on any levels in a Z-Line Shelving System, you may see deflection depending on the load and the application.
