Although structural material is considered heavy duty, structural pallet rack uprights still get damaged and require replacement.  When requesting a quote to replace these, it is important to know that not all structural frames are the same.  Many manufacturers have different specifications.  Here are some items to check before quoting:

1)  What is the width of the structural channel frame?

2)  What is the diameter of the hole on the frame column?

3)  What is the center to center vertical spacing of the holes?

4)  What is the center to center horizontal spacing of the holes from the end of the frame to the hole and between the two holes?

5)  What is the vertical dimension from the floor to the center of the first hole?

Below is a drawing that specifies the dimensions required.

It’s important to know this, so replacements can be requested from a manufacturer who matches the customer’s existing material.  Some of the main differences between manufacturers are where the first hole starts from the floor and the horizontal spacing from the end of the frame to the first hole.  For example, Steel King starts their first hole 1” from the floor while Frazier starts their first hole 3” from the floor.  Speedrack offers two types of structural frames, one with holes located 13/16” from the end of frame and another with 15/16” from the end of frame.  Differences such as these will not allow beams to line up or even engage in the replacement uprights.
