It was 9 days before the biggest holiday of the year when we received an order from Tim Colston of Allied Handling Equipment. Tim contacted WPRP on Tuesday, December 16th for a quote on pallet rack and wire decking that his customer needed immediately. Tim’s customer had a Monday move-in, so all of the material had to arrive prior to December 22nd. WPRP is a quick ship company, that specializes in 24-48 hrs turnaround, so what makes this order so special? It’s a matter of numbers. Two truck loads delivered 500 wire decks, 622 beams and 160 frames with six different profiles which were pulled from two quick ship locations and delivered complete four days from the initial order date. That’s 50,000 lbs of pallet racking and accessories. In comparison, a typical quick ship order is about one tenth that size and ships in one truck load from one location.
Pallet Rack Specialist Linda Anlauf worked closely with the accounting dept., the warehouses and the logistics companies to make sure this order arrived on time. The bulk of the order shipped from our Erie, PA warehouse, supplemented with pieces from our Maple Grove, MN location. WPRP staged the product to prepare it for shipping and worked with the carriers to arrange the flatbeds required for a Saturday delivery. Since it was in the middle of winter, Linda also scheduled a truck wash upon delivery to ensure the rack was thoroughly cleaned of salt and road residue (that could potentially lead to rust), prior to entering the warehouse. Linda was in contact with the carriers on Saturday until all of the product was on site, off loaded and the customer was completely satisfied.
