First, determine which type of beam you have – either a step beam or structural beam:
Third, measure the out-to-out depth of the beams in the current pallet rack system. This measurement is taken from the outside of the front beam to the outside of the rear beam in the system.
Once you know the type of beam, have the measurement for the bottom of the beam and know the out-to-out (O/O) depth, you can determine the size of the track needed by following the examples below:
2 3/4″ or 2 5/8″ Wide Step Beam
Deduct 6” from the overall beam O/O depth to determine the track length
Example: 92” O/O using the above beams would require an 86” long track (nominal length)
2 1/2″ Wide Step Beam
Deduct 5” from the overall beam O/O depth to determine the track length
Example: 92” O/O using the above beam would require an 87” long track (nominal length)
C3 (4.1 LB / FT) or C4 (5.4 LB / FT) Structural Beam
Deduct 3” from the overall beam O/O depth to determine the track length
Example: 92” O/O using the above beams would require an 89” long track (nominal length)
