Welcome to the “Material Handling Helpful Tools Series”. This series will blog spotlight many different material handling professionals and provide helpful information for the material handling industry. Our goal is to introduce you to individuals and websites that can improve your success in the industry. Today, we will meet Jessie Bozeman from ITC.

Tell us a little about yourself:

I have a great family here in New Orleans, LA who I am fortunately able to spend time with on a weekly basis. I moved back to New Orleans a little over a year ago from Scottsdale, AZ (which I loved), to be able to watch my niece and nephew grow up. Needless to say, it has been a great decision.

Bayou St. John is steps from my front door, so I am lucky enough to carry my paddle board out there on a whim and paddle down to City Park where there is always some sort of food or music festival going on (just watch out for the gators). I also enjoy playing tennis, hiking, horseback riding and wakeboarding.

One more thing: LSU Football – Geaux Tigers!

What is your role in the organization?

I am the Central Territory Manager for ITC, which means I travel throughout the central United States to meet with our customers on a frequent basis. I educate them on all of our products, and am here for support, information and guidance. In return, I always find myself learning something new from our clients regarding various facets of the material handling industry.

How did your career path land you in this role?

I was working for a security company in Scottsdale, when I was approached by my current boss. He told me a little bit about the company and how they were based out of Phoenix, AZ and Columbus, OH. At that point, I had been considering moving back to my hometown and he mentioned that I would be able to work out of a home office when I was not traveling. It could not have been better timing. I knew ITC was a good fit once I met the employees, learned more about the company and what they stood for.

What is the most exciting aspect of your job?

Getting to meet with various clients throughout my 17 state territory is fun and exciting for me. Aside from work, I have always enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. As mentioned above, I am able to learn something new every day, which I think is important and definitely keeps me on my toes!

What makes you (or your business) unique and sets you apart from the rest of the industry?

The quality of our product is excellent. We take pride in the fact that 100% of our products are manufactured right here in the U.S., with both East and West Coast manufacturing and distribution facilitates. We are also the most technologically advanced wire deck manufacturer, with the largest capacity and inventory in the industry.

What is one tip or bit of advice that you can leave with our readers?

I have always believed in beginning each day with a grateful heart and to always remain thankful for those things you are blessed with in this life (family, friends, health, etc.).

What are the biggest changes you see in the industry in the future?

When I first started with ITC, I had not thought twice about warehousing or the material handling industry. After attending this year’s ProMat, I couldn’t believe how tech-savvy a warehouse could be, from automated forklifts down to the remotely monitored stretch wrap machines. It really was interesting and opened my eyes to a much bigger picture than what I had previously known as warehousing.

I understand smartphones and tablets are being used more frequently for various material handling duties, which I think is great. Web-based marketing is also a must for this industry. Gone are the days a customer will actually call for information; they head straight to the internet, on their own time, to check out the latest-and-greatest products and services.

All in all, this is a fascinating industry and I am excited to see where it is heading.
