How to quote push back pallet rack

A Push-back pallet rack system works a LIFO (last in first out) inventory rotation that utilizes nesting carts on an inclined rail. A pallet is loaded onto a cart on the pallet rack and is then pushed back when a second pallet is loaded in front of it. When unloading pallets, gravity moves the next pallet forward.

A Push Back System is great when you have a large vertical space to work with and SKUs that do not have immediate expiration dates. With this system, each lane of pallet storage flows independently and multiple SKUs can be stored and retrieved without disturbing the product above or below. A Push Back System can be configured two to six deep and because it is a front loading system, it can be placed against a wall or as two systems back to back.

Following is the standard information we ask our customers when quoting a Push Back Pallet Rack System:

•What is the layout? How many pallets deep by how many pallets wide by how many pallet high?

•What is the minimum and maximum weight of the pallet? What is the size of the standard pallet: depth, width and height, and what is the size of the pallet with any overhanging product: depth, width and height? The pallet height should always include the load and the pallet.

•What type of pallets are the customer using and are they in good condition? There are many different pallet styles. The preferred pallet for a Push Back System is a standard 48” deep x 40” wide GMA (Grocery Manufacturers Association) pallet.

•What is the building clear height?

•What type of warehouse environment will this be used in? Freezer, cooler or ambient temperature? Will it be placed outdoors or in a wet area? This will tell us if we need to quote galvanized or standard painted pallet rack.
