Closed Tube Pallet Rack
This week’s #RackArt image is a cool perspective of a Steel King pallet rack frame. Take a closer look at the #RackArt image and you will notice that it is closed on all sides, making it look like a tunnel, even a kaleidoscope. What you are looking at is a Steel King 3” X 3” Closed Column design. Many manufacturers offer open back pallet rack uprights. Steel King’s design is a closed tube construction, also know as all tubular design. Their bracing channels are also a tubular design compared to other manufacturer’s C-shaped open bracing.
The advantage to this pallet rack design is its strength and long lasting durability. The fully welded tubular steel design of both the horizontal and diagonal bracing offers increased load capacities. This is a benefit if your customer has storage applications involving heavier loads and increased vertical heights such as automatic storage and retrieval systems. The tubular construction provides greater impact resistance and maintains a longer life span in comparison to the open backed pallet rack, which will save your customer on future repair and replacement costs.
